have raw cake and eat it
I have one of these in the morning, usually when I first get up. This one is lovely and sweet and is more yellow rather than really green so you should be able to persuade your children to drink it and get some greens into them at the same time. This makes enough for 4 so you can share with someone else or put the rest in the fridge for a refreshing afternoon drink. Drinking one a green smoothie once or twice a day will make you feel great.
1 banana
1 nectarine
3 apricots
6 romaine lettuce leaves
1 heaped teaspoon chlorella or spirulina powder (optional and you can start off with a little and build it up gradually - it will make it look very green so your children might not drink it)
1 litre water
1.Soak the lettuce, apricots and nectarine in a solution of vinegar (see food preparation).
2.Chop up banana, apricot and nectarine into small chunks and put in the blender with water.
3.Add broken up leaves to the blender.
4.Blend for 1 1/2 minutes. A high powered blender would be ideal for this but a regular blender or hand blender should also work.
5.Remove any smoothie from the blender for people who are not having it with added green powders. Then add spirulina or chlorella if using to remaining smoothie and blend for a few more seconds.
6.Serve in glasses. If you like your smoothie colder, you add some ice, but it will be better for your digestion if you can get used to it at room temperature.
