A soft structured carrier or SSC is essentially a square of fabric with straps at each corner. Two straps are attached around the wearer's waist or hips with buckles. The other two straps go over the wearer's shoulders and attach to sides of the carrier with buckles. There are many variations such as padding in the straps, wider straps, shaped bodies, sleeping hoods and fancy fabrics.
Pros:
* Weight distributed between shoulders and either waist or hips - good for heavier babies/toddlers
* Easy to use
* One size fits most for most carriers, but occasionally sized for different wearer sizes
*Great for back carries -not so good for front carries
*No straps hanging on the ground in the rain or mud
*Quick to put on so great for lively toddlers
Cons:
*Not supportive enough for a newborn
*Not easily adjustable to different body shapes as Mei Tais
*You might need to try out quite a few until you find one that works for you
