have raw cake and eat it

Lucuma is a Peruvian subtropical fruit and in its powdered form has a wonderful creamy taste - not surprising since it is used to flavour ice cream in Peru. It adds a mild, delicate sweetness to your raw cakes, biscuits, ice cream and chocolates. Check out our recipes page for more ideas.

Country of origin: Peru. Certified Organic by the Soil Association. Lucuma comes from the dry subtropical Andean coastal valleys of Peru; introduced later in Ecuador and Chile. It grows at elevations between 1000-2400 metres. Cajamarca, Ancash, Lima, and Ayacucho are the major areas in Peru grow lucuma trees. Lucuma has been found on ceramics at burial sites of the indigenous people of coastal Peru. The Moche people had a fascination with agriculture and often chose to represent fruits and vegetables, including lucuma, in their art.
