A dehydrator can make raw food much more fun and varied. You will be able to produce crackers and other crunchy bites to liven up your raw food diet. It is also great for making snacks to take out with you or o travel with, as dehydrated food will last longer, generally, than fresh raw food just kept in the fridge. This uses a temperature controlled, fan forced, horizontal drying system mounted in the rear. Cool air is drawn in the back, heated and distributed evenly across each tray. During the dehydration process, warm air removes moisture from foods and is pushed out of the front of the machine.

People often wonder if a timer is necessary. I personally don’t think so, as an extra hour in the dehydrator is not going to make a noticeable difference. The other disadvantage is that the timer is connected to the on/off switch in the unit, so if the timer ever broke, your dehydrator would no longer work. However, some people might prefer one for peace of mind.

If there is only one of you eating dehydrated food, you could probably make do with a 5 tray unless you are planning on doing lots of dehydrating, but for more than 1 person you might be better with a 9 tray, unless you do not plan to use it that regularly and want it for occasional snacks and treats.
