This cold pressed, virgin, unrefined coconut butter tastes amazing. It is the only oil we use if we cook food, as it is not damaged by heat, unlike most other oils. We also use it in many sweet treat and cake recipes. You can make delicious raw sweet treats by melting this with raw cacao butter and stirring in some carob powder, lucuma powder and your favourite nuts, seeds or dried fruit. Check out our recipes page for more ideas. This is cold pressed using the centrifugal method from fresh coconuts. It is solid in the fridge, soft at room temperature and liquid above 25 degrees.
Over many decades coconut oil received bad publicity due to its saturated fat content, but research has shown that not all saturated fats are alike and coconut oil is unique in its structural make-up. It is not only the highest source of saturated fats (92%) but included in this is the highest source of saturated medium chain triglycerides (62%) of any naturally occurring vegan food source.
Apart from coconut oil, the only other source of lauric acid found in such high concentrations is in mother’s milk. Tropical oils and mother’s milk are by far the richest food sources of medium chain fatty acids available.
